I started knitting in December 2020 to keep busy and while my first couple attempts were hardly anything to write home about, I kept at it. If I could say one thing I’m most proud of about my knitting, maybe even about my life, it’s that I kept at it. Projects I was once intimidated by are now staples in my wardrobe and my discovered love of knitting has demonstrated to me how capable I am of learning any new skill (we’ll see how I feel about that whenever I’m brave enough to try brioche).
Lately I’ve been learning to sew and paint as well as code, which is how I made this website! Every new skill opens my eyes to a new perspective and I hope I never stop finding joy in learning. Besides fiber arts, I love getting outdoors, reading, and playing video games. I don’t have a favorite food, but I strongly believe dinner should always end with a little something sweet. My personal philosophy is that life is only as beautiful as the people in it. Like Aunt May says, when you help someone, you help everyone.
The time it takes to care for something adds to its value, not diminishes it. Hand wash your knits!
Life is full of mistakes, you’re not less valuable for making them. The same goes for your knitting. Just learn from your mistakes as much as you can.
More often than not, that big scary thing you didn’t think you could do wasn’t so scary after all
Get a notebook and log whatever you make, how you made it, when you made it, and what you learned.
If something isn’t working, or you’re not happy with what’s going on, you can always fix it.
You’ll never run out of gift ideas once you find your favorite beanie pattern.
Always double-check your stitch direction before you waste your CO on a Möbius strip
You learn to value everything around you more when you start making things for yourself.
